John McGlynn's debut album was originally released in 1997 on the Danú label. 

It was written over the course of the breakup of a relationship, hence the “egocentric writing style” as accurately described in a Hot Press review. With the obvious exceptions of If I looked any better [a tongue-in-cheek reference to McGlynn’s memories of time spent with Michael Flatley in Riverdance] and Swimming in the Barrow [a snapshot of his childhood swimming with his cousins in the Barrow River in Co.Carlow], the album maps the end of an long affair. The lyrical vocal style and McGlynn’s unique guitar playing work in perfect counterpoint. The result is a curiously gentle cohesive album that charts the slide of love to it’s inevitable conclusion. 

The Fisher King is another stand alone piece, appearing originally on Anúna’s Classical Brit Award nominated album Deep Dead Blue in 2000. 

In 2009 Songs for a Fallen Angel was nominated in the Best Adult Contemporary Album category of The JPF Awards. This competition included every release from CD Baby and other online resources, amounting to nearly 56,000 albums from 160+ countries and was the largest independent music awards in the world.

If all she has is you has since been covered on two albums Owen Brady’s Prepare to be happy and most recently on Electric Youth’s Innerworld. The Canadian synth pop duo [their song A Real Hero was the closing scene in the movie Drive featuring Ryan Gosling] included it on their debut release in 2014. The album was produced by Vince Clarke - Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yazoo.
